Turns out that the compiler is involved!
Indeed:
1- Using the code shown in the standard changes nothing of
the compilation errors.
2- Comeau together with libcomo compiles just fine the
testcase: libcomo has the _same_ code (SGI/HP) for
uninitialized_copy_ that current g++ has.
