Hi,
I can confirm that this bug is still present on 3.3 branch and mainline
(20030506). It does not appear to be itanium2 related, and crashes just
fine from a generic cross compiler :-(

The submitter sent me his preprocessed source file, from which I
extracted this small test case:
typedef struct { float u; float v; } P2;
static void PointInTri (P2 pl, P2 pn, P2 v0, P2 v1, P2 v2)
{
P2 e0 = v2;
}
This causes the same ICE in simplify_gen_subreg when compiled on
ia64-linux with gcc version 3.3 20021106 (experimental) and with
3.2.1 20021105 (prerelease). GCC 2.96RH ICEs in emit_move_insn.

Your attachment is empty. If you send it again I can see if the problem
still exists with the GCC 3.2 branch (soon to be released as 3.2.1) and
the mainline.

Compiling on a dual processor HP zx6000 Itanium-2
(1GHz). Problem first encountered in gcc-2.96,
then in gcc-3.0.4. Compiling with lower optimization
does not help. Report from test of build
of gcc-3.2 has been submitted.
