Respecting line continuations violates this. This is unlike bash, sh, and python scripts, which also use '#' as comments and which do not respect line continuations in comments. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for bringing it up. So perhaps this is more a feature request than a bug. Open to discussion as to whether this is desirable. I just got bit by it and was confounded as to why some lines of my gdb script were not executing. Is there a good reason to have this "feature"? Was this feature intentional? What are people's gut feelings on whether this is what most users would expect? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

So in this case, if one wants to comment a line, one must also move the cursor to the end of the line to see whether there is a continuation or not. This extra check may be forgotten when GDB is not used regularly and cause extra headaches. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread
