Installed gnats 3.999.2. Built from scratch. Everything is happy; I can
telnet in, login, change database (though I am only using 1. default).

Installed gnatsweb 2.9.3 as per instructions, but the "make test" command fails
in a way I've not seen talked about on this forum:

root@moo:/home/mjstumpf/gnatsweb-2.9.3# make test USERNAME=mjstumpf
PASSWORD=hehehehe DATABASE=default
perl test.pl
connect...........................................FAIL
connect...........................................FAIL
make: *** [test] Error 1
root@moo:/home/mjstumpf/gnatsweb-2.9.3#

I've got an /etc/gnats-db.conf file that I believe is valid; if I change the
name of DATABASE in the 'make test' line I get similar results/complaints as
others in the forum. The interesting thing here is that the connect....FAIL
line is printed twice.. ?

If I 'just go ahead and make install anyway', I get to the login screen with an
empty database list; logging in 'works' but results in returning to the login
screen.

any help appreciated. Thanks,
Michael Stumpf

Gnatsweb 2.x will not work with GNATS 3.999. Use Gnatsweb 3.99.4 which can
be found in the contrib subdirectory of the GNATS 3.999.2 distribution.

I just added this to the FAQ. BTW, this is the first FAQ entry in
the "Installation" chapter.

For those who did not yet know: the GNATS FAQ is available at
	http://www.gnu.org/software/gnats/doc/faq/gnats-faq.html
My updates will show up there in a few hours.

Thanks, Hans-Albert. I was just about to suggest this as FAQ material. As
they say, "great minds think alike" :-)
